Nutanix SKO

Attending my first Nutanix Sales Kick-Off event in Las Vegas this week I’ve come away quite exhausted. To be clear, it’s not because of the late nights or the beer – really ;-) The quantity and quality of sessions along with the content at times was an information overload, especially for me being a ‘newbie’. There are many things I’d be keen to share with you but at the moment much of this is ‘internal only’ so, for the moment sit tight. Overall though, what took me aback was that I thought I had an appreciation of the company, its product range and passion to continue as number 1 in the market. That’s why I wanted to join, although it transpired I knew only a small part of the story. I now have a greater appreciation of the architecture, the people that drive the product development, the market challengers (and how they really don’t compete), the customer / user community, roadmaps, growing alliances and head count were all focus content however; every session was underpinned with a real sense of belonging and being a part of one company without barriers – everyone seemed genuinely excited to be ‘one family’.  The closing session from @sudheenair today re-iterated aspects of its company roots (with anecdotes) but focusing on the people who were there from Nutanix day one and who are still here today.

For a company that’s today only 700+ employees, I have been truly impressed by everyone’s enthusiasm and ‘want’ to be a part of its success.

User conference

Nutanix User Conference

As Wednesday drew to a close the conversation from @howardting shifted toward IT conferences. The advertising for the up and coming VMworld (next week in fact) was shown, the positioning of advertising banners and the reasoning.  Focus then shifted to the attendee count, the opportunity to educate new and existing customers of the Nutanix products but in someways the opportunity to become more involved in and around the event was a little a stifled. Personally, I’m not surprised, it’s a VMware conference about their software but nonetheless this led into the announcement of Nutanix’s own user conference next year.

The Fontainebleau hotel will be the dedicated location on the 8th – 10th June 2015, make a note in your calendar.

More news will be released soon, watch this space :)
