There’s been an incredible amount of executive level staff shuffling in recent months throughout the whole of the virtualisation sector. I suspect insider knowledge and personalities play a large part but what’s grabbed my attention in the past week is the 2nd ex-Microsoft exec to be appointed up high in VMware. This is not meant to be news to you rather than let’s take a step back and look at VMware and how it became so successful. In 10 years a technically driven and motivated organisation shook the world. In the last 18 months we’ve seen an IPO and stock levels rise dramatically that is, until the rumours of the founders moving on came to light. Are we now relying on big names to revert VMware back to where we felt we were happy with it

or are we at the start of a new era / evolution of a Microsoft V2? Oh, by the way I’ve checked and the MSware domain is taken.
